About

Ayazhan is a sculptor. She was born in 1997 in Almaty. She graduated from the Moscow State Academic Art Institute (2015–2021), Faculty of Sculpture, in the workshop of A. I. Rukavishnikov. She works across multiple disciplines: sculpture, graphics, and ceramics.

In her work, Ayazhan experiments with a variety of materials, engages with classical images, uncovering them for herself and interpreting them through different associative visualizations. She employs theatrical illusions, stretching and exaggerating forms to enhance expressiveness and create a certain surreal quality. Her work serves as a tool for exploring the ancient and native aesthetics of the Kazakh people, providing the opportunity to reinterpret contemporary realities and her personal experience of living away from home for an extended period.
